A TV today is more than a way to watch channels — it is the hub for movies, sports, games and streaming. There are many models on the market, but the choice comes down to a few simple questions: how big is the room, how far away do you sit and what do you watch most.
Below we explain the most important specifications and show models from the ELIS catalog for different budgets.

1. Screen size and viewing distance
Screen size is measured in inches. A simple rule: the ideal viewing distance for a 4K TV is roughly 1.2–1.6 times the screen diagonal.
- 43 inches — bedroom, kitchen or a small room (1.5–2 m);
- 50–55 inches — a mid-sized living room (2–3 m);
- 65 inches and above — a large living room or a home-cinema feel (over 3 m).
2. Resolution
4K (UHD, 3840×2160) is the standard today — most movies and streaming come in this format. Full HD only makes sense on small screens. 8K TVs are expensive and there is almost no 8K content, so most people do not need one.
3. Display technology: LED, QLED, OLED
- LED (LCD) — the most affordable option, a good picture for everyday viewing;
- QLED — LED with quantum dots: a brighter screen and richer colors, great for bright rooms;
- OLED — every pixel lights itself, so black is truly black and contrast is the highest; the best choice for movies in a dark room.
Also look at HDR formats (HDR10, Dolby Vision) — they add depth to contrast and color.
4. Refresh rate
60 Hz is enough for movies and everyday viewing. A 120 Hz TV is better for sports and fast action, and for gamers connecting a console (PlayStation, Xbox) or a powerful PC.
5. Smart TV platform
Smart TV lets you watch YouTube, Netflix and other services over the internet. Platforms differ: Samsung uses Tizen, while other models run Google TV / Android TV or webOS. Look at voice control, the choice of apps and casting from your phone (AirPlay, Chromecast).
6. Connections and sound
Make sure there are enough HDMI ports for a console, soundbar and receiver (at least 3), plus Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth and USB. If you plan to add a soundbar, look for HDMI eARC. Built-in speakers are often enough for everyday viewing, but for movies a soundbar noticeably improves the sound.
